Jonathan Jaffe is a world-class professional poker player with over two decades of success at the tables. Known for his versatility across high stakes tournaments, cash games, and heads-up matches, Jaffe has amassed more than $16.9 million in live tournament earnings. His career trophy case includes victories on the World Poker Tour (WPT), the Triton Poker Series, the PokerGO Tour, the European Poker Tour (EPT), and the prestigious Alpha-8 For One Drop event.
Jon began his professional career at the age of 18, spent most of the first six years of his career as a heads-up specialist where he earned over $1 million in profit while occasionally competing in live and online tournaments. During this period, he also began developing his abilities as a coach, working with close friend Nick Petrangelo as well as other online tournament professionals. Following his 2014 WPT Montreal victory, Jon took a step back from tournament poker and increasingly transitioned into full-time coaching while playing high stakes-live cash games in South Florida.
In 2023, after years of encouragement from Nick Petrangelo, Jon was persuaded to sharpen up his tournament skills and resume his live tournament career on the biggest stages in poker; the Triton Poker Tour. Over the past two years, Jon has captured two Triton titles, most recently in 2025 at Jeju II , the Poker Masters Championship, and his largest cash to date—first place in the WPT Alpha-8 For One Drop for over $1.5 million.
Despite competing in the world’s biggest buy-ins, Jon still considers himself a coach first, dedicating more time to teaching GTO poker strategy than to playing. As a poker coach, he excels at translating complex solver-based strategies into practical, real-world applications. By teaching the underlying theory behind these adjustments, Jon ensures his students are prepared to evolve their game for increasingly difficult competition.
Jon also hosts the GTO LAB Podcast, where he interviews elite players like Daniel Negreanu, Fedor Holz, and Dan Smith. The podcast is not about hand histories but focuses on how top players think, make decisions, and evolve their game under pressure.
